6 ways to get involved in the Honda enthusiast community in the GTAMay 24th, 2017
For some, a car is a means of transport. It takes them from where they are to where they need to be and that’s it. For others, however, a car is so much more than that. For some it’s a hobby, a passion, a lifestyle. It’s an entry point into a sport, access to a community of fellow lovers of speed and corners.
If you fall into the latter category and live in the Greater Toronto Area, there’s a great community of likeminded enthusiasts out there for you to connect with. Here are some great resources for you to check out.
Phantom Meets GTA
Phantom Meets GTA is a family oriented group with a passion for cars. You may have seen their phantom of the opera style masks on some vehicles around town. They’re always organizing meets and shows in the GTA. Join their nearly 10,000 person strong Instagram community, or Like ‘em on Facebook to get involved.
Race Ready Tuning
This tight but dedicated Facebook group describes itself as “The REAL home of JDM Tuners.” Self-proclaimed or not, the community here is definitely dedicated to the development of their vehicles. If you’re looking to meet some people to plug into the tuner community in the area, this could be a great place to start.
Family Honda Civic Nights
Hosted at the Family Honda dealership in Brampton, Civic Nights is an opportunity to get to gather with fellow Honda lovers to share the passion for the product. If you own a Civic or any other Honda, or if you’re just a fan, we’d love to see you out at our next event on June 2. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for event updates.
Although this is technically a place to buy, sell or trade rims and tires in the GTA, the GTA Wheels public Facebook group is also a great digital destination to plug into the local tuning community. You might just find inspiration for your next upgrade.
NvUS is another great community hub for local enthusiasts, which you can tap into on Instagram or at their weekly meets in Brampton (7:30 pm Thursday at 27-20 Maritime Blvd Ontario, FYI). They’ve also got a big show coming up in June, the NvUS Ontario/Sailun Tire Summer ShowCase. It’s free to attend and will feature free BBQ and drinks, a live DJ, activations from event sponsors, and Best of Class and Specialty Awards (we’ll be watching that Best Honda category). And best of all, the event is raising funds for SickKids Hospital. Details and RSVP here.
The Civic Forums
Though the 9th Gen Civic Forum and 8th Gen Civic Forum are global platforms, they’re indispensable resources for anyone who owns and loves a Civic of either generation. And for the 9th Gen Forum, there’s even a subsection for Canada. (Cool, eh!) From event announcements to DIY advice to an ever-updating for sale selection, there’s plenty of value for Civic fans here.
